Skyline Towers

Armor was originally requested to install a telephone entry system and card access system to replace an aging and slow biometric entry system.  After successful completion, the building management asked Armor for a solution to the problem of discarded furniture in the hallways which had to be hauled away by a trash service.  In addition, residents did not feel safe waiting in the small elevator lobbies on the 23 floors of the building. Armor was also asked to monitor two large parking lots which had experienced numerous incidents.

The challenges faced by Armor were to install the many cameras throughout the 23 story tower while utilizing a very small chase between floors (to prevent expensive core drilling between floors) and maintaining a strict budget.  The 69 new lobby/hallway cameras where required to be integrated with 17 existing cameras and 5 additional exterior “speed dome” cameras.  The guard service needed to use the old console area to continuously view specific cameras and be able to call up any of the other 91 cameras as required.

The Solution: After considering the cable distances and severe restriction between floors, Armor chose to use NVT twisted pair technology between floors to derive parts and labor cost benefits of using cat 5 cable versus traditional coaxial cable. Bosch vandal- resistant Phortress series mini-domes were installed in elevator lobbys and hallways to keep the installation as low maintenance and vandal free as possible. Bosch Digital Video Recorders were rack mounted with Bosch video software allowing switching control of camera scenes onto the four guard terminal monitors.
